This week marks a new chapter in my healing journey: my very first Cacao New Moon Ceremony. Before stepping into that sacred space, I felt called to prepare not just physically, but energetically and spiritually.
The Limpia: Returning to Clarity
Yesterday I began with a limpia, an energetic cleansing designed to remove stagnation I’ve carried since childhood.During my session, I worked with the White Flame, inviting conversation, forgiveness, and release.
If you’ve never experienced a limpia, find a practitioner you trust completely. Vulnerability is the key. You’ll spend time talking, remembering, and feeling; without trust, your spirit will hold back what most needs to be freed.
When it was complete, I felt as if I were walking on air. My energy felt restored, and my inner vision sharpened, yes, even literally clearer sight. We sometimes forget that clearing energy within and around us can bring clarity to all our senses.
That night I slept deeply and woke with a softness I hadn’t felt in years, a fresh perspective settling in.
Nourishment for Ceremony
I spent the day in quiet reflection, tending my body gently. Many recommend fasting or light foods before ceremonial work, so I made homemade carrot-tomato soup in my juicer and paired it with a sourdough BLT.I added a scoop of unflavored protein powder for balance, sustenance for the journey ahead.
To hydrate, I sipped from one of my 16-oz jars of Harvest Moon water, which we blessed earlier this month. Each jar carries handwritten affirmations, charging every sip with intention.
Clearing the Space
Before the ceremony, I wanted my surroundings to reflect the purity I was cultivating.I cleaned my home, saged each room, and planned to spray-cleanse my car before leaving, symbolically releasing any lingering energy from the past weeks.
As I worked, I spent time with my animals, receiving their unconditional love and grounding energy – their way of refilling the places within me that felt hollow.
Preparing the Vessel
Because I’d spent part of the day visiting family in the hospital, I’ll shower and change before leaving for the ceremony.I’ll wash away the residual energy of worry and grief, choosing light clothing instead of black, a visual reminder that I’m stepping into renewal, not heaviness.
What the New Moon and Cacao Represent
The New Moon invites stillness and intention, a cosmic blank page.Cacao is a heart-opening plant medicine, long honored by Indigenous traditions for its ability to connect us to love, truth, and divine consciousness.
Together, they create a space for gentle release, intention-setting, and deep connection with self and Spirit.
Stay Tuned for Part Two
Tonight, I’ll step into the ceremony with an open heart and clear energy. In Part Two, I’ll share what unfolded during the ritual, the messages, sensations, and healing that emerged under the dark embrace of the New Moon.
Until then, may your own preparations remind you that healing begins long before the ceremony itself.
